Mental Health Europe has marked World Mental Health Day (10 October 2018) by bringing together young people, politicians and experts to discuss young people’s mental health.
Speakers from a diverse range of organisations working with young people – the focus for this year’s World Mental Health Day – came together in the European Parliament to emphasise the importance of prevention and early intervention.
Mental health experts have today (11 July 2018) called on policy makers in the institutions of the European Union (EU) to use the next round of EU funding to promote further reforms to mental health services.
The call came at a meeting in the European Parliament hosted by Tomáš Zdechovský MEP (EPP, Czech Republic) and convened by Mental Health Europe (MHE), the largest independent network organisation representing mental health users, professionals and services in Europe.
An estimated 2000 people marched in Edinburgh today against plans for the UK to leave the European Union (EU).
The demonstration was organised by The Young European Movement, an organisation which exists to fight for a better European Union with the UK at its heart.

Hundreds of people took to the streets of Edinburgh today to call on the Scottish Government to tighten up the laws on fox hunting.
The For the Foxes demonstration was organised by charities One Kind – which exists to end cruelty to Scotland’s animals – the League Against Cruel Sports, and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW).
The demonstrators marched along the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, starting at St Giles and finishing outside the Scottish Parliament.
As marchers gathered at the Scottish Parliament, a minute silence was held to mark the death of Anna Campbell, an animal rights activist who was recently killed fighting alongside Kurdish forces in Afrin, northern Syria.
The march concluded with speeches from: Alison Johnstone MSP (Green Party), Colin Smyth MSP (Labour), Robbie Marsland (director of the League Against Cruel Sports Scotland), and other activists.
Storm Emma hit Edinburgh on the evening of 27 February 2018. When the city woke, it was covered in a thick blanket of snow.
Whilst children played and their parents struggled to get to work, emergency services were stretched and many shops were unable to receive deliveries.
Eventually the snow subsided, but the chaos continued over the next few days.
